Competition to name the new Tools4stone stone gallery and shop.
We will be moving to a new location in the next few months, the tool shop as before and also a gallery to exhibit and sell sculpture and stone works from around Ireland. I'm looking for an original name for the gallery. Whoever comes up with the best name will recieve a gift of stone tools from Tools4stone. Please leave suggestions here or send them to dale@tools4stone.net

Durrow High Cross. Co Offaly.
The high cross of Durrow is on public display for this month only, the church and surroundings have been excellently restored and the cross now resides inside The church, the Opw have completed the works over the last few years but have yet to allow year round access to the cross due to a few traffic restrictions. Hopefully next year it will. There is also a large period residence that will be restored if funds allow. This could be a great attraction for both Offaly and Westmeath , if hopefully the right funds are put in place.

Irish marble.
I visited a quarry in Kilkenny today and saw a great collection of marbles from right the way across the country, Connemara green marble, Middleton red and grey marbles from cork, Kilkenny black marble. A lot of the old quarries these stones came from are now closed, one in particular is now underneath a housing estate. It's such a shame we import stone from all over the world and yet we have the most beautiful marbles under our feet.
